Afternoon appointments with Legislators at State Capitol
CFLCA is proud to announce our 9th Annual Legislative Action Day scheduled for May 2nd at our state Capitol. This event allows FLCs and their supporters to learn about bills proposed in the current legislative session that will impact agricultural employers. We will also learn about several rulemaking actions underway at Cal OSHA and the Dept. of Labor Standards Enforcement (Labor commissioners office) that would significantly impact ag employers.
The morning session session will include a review of proposed bills including ones that would restrict arbitration agreements; increase penalties for wage claims; increase filing times for harassment claims; require employers to provide more specific payroll data; and one that might provide relief from wage claims. We'll also learn how to effectively use our meeting time with legislators.
CFLCA will schedule afternoon appointments for participants to meet with a variety of legislative offices to share our perspectives and concerns. We'll also use this time to educate legislators on the critical role FLCs play in California's agricultural industry.
This is our opportunity to learn about and to participate in the legislative process, and to influence certain outcomes. It is also a great networking opportunity.
