Updates to Social Security No-Match Letters - Compliance
Many thanks to Patrick Moody of Barsamian - Moody for providing additional information and updates on the SSA issuance of 'No-Match' letters to employers. Due to much confusion on the part of many employers who had received these letters, Congressman Jim Costa requested clarification from the Social Security Administration as to the intent of, and requirements for employers to respond to these letters. Apparently, employers are not actually required to respond to these letters, and there are no penalties from SSA for failure to respond. For more detailed information, please read the memo from Barsamian & Moody, which includes a copy of the response from the Acting Commissioner of the Social Security Administration.
