Social Security Mismatch Letters - Compliance

Many employers, particularly agricultural employers, are once again receiving mismatch letters from the Social Security Administration stating that W-2 forms for various employees contain names and/or Social Security numbers that do not match the Social Security Administration records, or that certain Social Security numbers are invalid.   The law firm of Barsamian & Moody has provided a memorandum that outlines the steps employers should take in response to such letters.  It contains sample forms to use, and includes resources put out by the federal Department of Justice for further information.  For a copy of the memorandum, please click here.
